Sweet 16 Party Themes

Planning a Sweet 16 Party and trying to decide on a party theme? There are so many wonderful party themes to choose from. Let’s take a look at some of the more common themes. These themes will work fantastic if you have a time crunch and need to get the party planning done quickly.

1. Fairytale Party Theme. Every little girls dream is to be a princess. A fairytale themed Sweet 16 party is a fantastic way to make that dream realty ‘ at least for one day.

3. Willy Wonka Candy Themed Party. An all time favorite movie becomes a fantastic party theme. After you have selected the location for the party, it’s time to really get creative. Choose a chocolate fountain with plenty of dipping items like marshmallows, bananas, and strawberries. Place large bowls throughout the room filled to the brim with M&M’s, Sweet Tarts, Jolly Ranchers and any other favorite candy. Cool Baby Shower Themes: Rubber Duckie Baby Shower

InvitationsThis is the first opportunity you have to let your guests in on the theme of the party.  Look for invitations with ducks on them, or if you’re feeling creative try creating your own invitations either by hand or with a computer. 

CenterpiecesThe options for centerpieces are endless!  You could use a large glass bowl filled with water and have a large duckie or a few small duckies floating in it.  This is also a great option for decorating side tables, using smaller bowls.  To add more interest, add some decorative colored stones or even some plastic fish tank plants.

Another centerpiece option is to have a pair of small childrens rubber boots with a small glass in each one.  Fill the glasses with water and an assortment of small flowers such as coral bells, pansies, carnations, babies breath, or freesias.  The boots will tie in with your rubber duckie theme quite well since ducks are often linked with rainy weather.

NapkinsScout the stores for napkins with rubber ducks on them.  Also, pick up paper plates that match one of the colors in the napkins like yellow or orange.  A bright color is best and will help to remind your guests that you are celebrating birth and childhood, when bright colors are best!

A Wedding Anniversary Guide – History, Themes, Gifts & Etiquette

Wedding anniversaries are an ideal opportunity for married couples to celebrate their love for one another and remember why they decided to marry in the first place.� Historians have traced the origins of silver and golden anniversaries to medieval Germanic Europe, where silver and gold garlands were presented by the husband to the wife to celebrate the 25th and 50th years of marriage respectively.�

Prior to 1937 only the first and major milestone anniversaries had materials associated with them.� In 1937 the American National Retail Jewellery Association issued a more comprehensive list of representative materials for all the traditional wedding anniversaries for each year up to the 15th Anniversary and then every fifth year after that up to the 60th.�This list has been continually updated by various commercial companies over recent years and today celebrants can choose between the traditional list as well as a contemporary list of anniversary themes (which provides alternative modern-day suggestions such as electrical appliances!)

Traditionally, gifts exchanged or given in the early years of marriage were practical household items to aid the couple in starting a new home together (an extension of the wedding gift). �Luxury gifts tend to be given in the later years when the couple has already acquired things they need.� The more cynical-minded might see the increase in gift value over time as an incentive to stay married!

In the early years (say less than 15) the anniversary celebrations normally only involve the couple themselves, and often include an overnight trip or ‘second honeymoon’. �However, in the later years, any children they might have may decide to organize the anniversary celebration for their parents.� For milestone anniversaries a party is usually the order of the day. It is not recommended to throw a surprise party for a couple on their anniversary, because not all couples will appreciate the gesture; it is always better to discuss any plans with the couple prior to the event, especially as they may already have plans of their own.

Invitations to an anniversary party should be sent out at least four weeks in advance of the celebration.� An invitation does not imply the need for a gift. Indeed many couples are uncomfortable about receiving gifts and often request that no gifts are given by the guests at their anniversary, perhaps they feel they don’t really need anything or they may not want their guests to feel obliged. �It is important that you try and respect their choice, but if you insist on giving a gift, it is advisable to do so after the event so as not to embarrass the hosts or the other guests who did not bring a gift.

Generally it is not deemed good etiquette to ask for a monetary gift although asking for a small contribution towards a commemorative gift such as a tree or sundial is a nice way of getting around this.

If traditional gifts are given it is normal for the couple to open them later rather than during the celebration, although again this is down to personal choice.� Personalised gifts make great anniversary gift ideas as the personal touch makes the present much more meaningful.� If a personalised gift is to be given it is often more usual to include the number of years married plus the couples’ names rather than the date of marriage.

Typically a short speech of some type is expected even at a very informal affair. �Often one of the children says a few complimentary words about their parents and this is followed by a response by one or both members of the couple in order to thanks the organizers etc.

SUPPERTIME

Typically, a baby shower consists of games, food, and presents. However, why not take the idea one-step further by including frozen dinners, preferably homemade. If the couple has room, have each guest bring something that can be frozen or is already frozen.

Whether the shower is before or after the birth of the baby, this means the couple does not have to spend tired nights trying to cook. Instead, they can simply pull out one of the frozen dinners, pop it in the oven or microwave, and in a short time, have a nutritious homemade meal.

You would be amazed at how much this sentiment is appreciated. Just be sure everyone labels the food with the name, date, and any cooking instructions. Finally, if possible, try to provide some meal ideas for guests so they know what types of food the couple enjoys.   • Care package for after the birth, again to help her think about the future. This could include a trip to the beauty parlor, dinner out with her husband or friend, housecleaning service for two to four weeks, three to six-month supply of diapers, and so on.

  • Body lotion, perfume, balloons, flowers, and other similar things are always nice to help brighten the room and put her in a better mood while waiting for her new bundle of joy to arrive.

Fun Nursery Themes That Will Even Have Your Baby Talking!

A fun, flexible baby room theme is to decorate it in whimsical patterns. Try painting butter yellow or grass green stripes on the walls. Then hang bold graphic pictures of cats and dogs in bright red or blue frames on the walls.

Use the same graphic style to paint a toy chest using stencils, or apply stickers against a colorful painted background.

Another fun baby room theme is a design around the theme of Sweet Dreams. Use bright colors such as watermelon pink and lime green on accessory pieces, and then choose white for the walls, ceiling, and lamps.

Or furniture with bold colors and patterns, such as lime green chunky ball feet on tables, and chairs with polka dots decorating purple table and chair legs.

Transportation themes are also easy to coordinate when you are deciding on a baby room theme. Pick planes, trains, bicycles, or automobiles. Use bright primary colors and put up a display of model trains or vintage cars.

Whichever theme you decide on, choose a design that is appropriate for an infant and a toddler. Use inexpensive, stain-repellant area rugs that can be replaced when you want to update the design.

The frog lamps, duck mobiles, and framed pictures of lions and tigers can easily be switched to pictures of the latest cartoon heroes when your infant becomes a toddler.
