Photo Christmas Card: 7 Ideas For A Wonderful One!
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009Most of your family and friends are eager to get the greeting cards that you send to them each year. You could have even already sent them some form of a photo card in the past. This article will cover 7 different ideas that will help you to make the most out of your photo Christmas cards this year.
If you want to go for a spectacular difference, you can make your photo black and white. Your digital camera has probably a black and white function; otherwise, you would consider the option of a photo editing software as most of them come with this function. If you have no idea on how to do any of this, where ever you could have your cards made, they will probably offer the service for free.
People normally tend to only put their children in these photos. Why not make it a entire family thing and put everyone in there! Make sure to emphasize the traditional side of the holiday. For instance: wear angel wings, use the Christmas tree as background and take a picture of your family building a snowman in the garden or picking pinecones. You can even take a snapshot of the whole family when you go shopping for gifts.
???Choose to be creative by taking pictures of your family in their natural environment or while they are dressing the Christmas tree or playing in the yard instead of common posed pictures to make you greeting card.
You could even make a scrapbooking photo card. It is easy as 1.2.3: you just have to choose several of your photos and combine them on a piece of holiday scrapbook paper and use that as your greeting card. If you are unsure how to do this, it can be made at any of the card making stores, they often provide holiday themed paper.
To make make a more funny card, you can buy scrapbooking Christmas things at the hobby store and put these ornaments on your card. You could also want to consider who you are sending the card to, and if they appreciate special things or collect collect such as stamps, you can take the little package of stamps that you find and place one on each corner of the photo in the center of the card.
You can buy inexpensive but beautiful Christmas cards on the Web as many online companies sell such products
, but adding details and ornaments can be costly. A great number of them also let you design your card exactly to your own expectations. These companies also have their own photo editing software that can help you to touch up your photos.
So make this year an even more particular year with your card sending.
How to Avoid Credit Card Fraud
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009Credit card fraud in the US is a rising problem. Up to 10% of Americans have been the victim of card fraud according to finance website bankrate.com. It’s easy to assume from the stories you see in the media that most of this fraud is the result of highly organised gangs using sophisticated techniques but the reality is the risks may be closer to home. Most card fraud cases are one off and may be conducted by someone you know such as family or friends. It’s crucial that you take some basic steps to keep your details in the right hands.
The biggest step you can take toward your own credit security is to pay attention. Do you know when your monthly statements arrive? If not, find out. One very common trick is for a thief to change the statement address to something other than your home, and then start charging. You don’t know anything’s amiss because you’re not getting the statement. And if you don’t even know when it’s supposed to arrive, you’re just setting yourself up for trouble. Read your statement when it comes and immediately report anything suspicious to your bank or lender.
Online security is important, too. Never access even a trusted website from a link in an unsolicited e-mail. These can be “mirror” sites set up to look identical to a trusted merchant’s, but in reality nothing more than data-mining sites that will take your credit card information and run with it. Go to a website through a Favorite or by typing the website manually into the address bar in your browser.
A secure website will often begin with “https” rather than the standard “http”. You’ll often see a small icon that looks like a padlock down near the bottom of your browser window.though even those can be faked these days. Once you have finished shopping online you should close the internet browser down fully. And consider cleaning out your browsing history on a regular basis. In Windows, this can be done via Tools, then Internet Options. In the General tab, click Delete in the Browsing History section to eliminate the addresses of recently-visited websites.
Never, ever respond to an unsolicited e-mail or telephone call requesting your personal information. Banks and other merchants never request this information.remember, they should already have it on hand.
Protect your Personally Identifiable Information, or PII. NEVER give out your Social Security Number to an unsolicited phone call! If someone is asking for personal information and you didn’t call them you should hang up immediately.
If you should become a victim of credit card fraud, immediately contact your card issuer. Their number should be on your statement (which you’ve been checking every month of course?), but it’s a good idea to keep it in your address book, Day Planner, or PDA, as well. Your card issue needs to cancel your account with immediate effect and then set you up with a new account with the correct balance. You will likely have some forms to fill out. Make sure you take the time to complete and return the forms as the information you provide can be a huge help in helping the police and fraud investigation team from your card issuer to track down the thief and secure a prosecution.
Keep your card in a safe location (your wallet is generally a bad idea), never give out your PIN number or write it on the card
, and check your statements every months. With a few simple precautions you can greatly reduce your risk of becoming a victim of credit card fraud.

Increase Your Scrapbook & Card Making Income
Tuesday, January 13th, 2009You don’t even need to leave home to have a ready and willing market of keen buyers for your creative efforts at eBay.
I like doing things with handmade mulberry paper. My latest creative effort has been applying a layer of handmade mulberry paper on a plain card. I add a lacy edge to the mulberry paper and make an aperture in it before affixing to the card.
I sell them in lots of 8 and they usually sell quickly on eBay. I could never have found these buyers 10 years ago. We both benefit.
If you have a paper product you love creating a great place to test the market is eBay.
Be sure if your objective is to make money that you factor in the amount of time each piece takes to make unless you can papercraft as a hobby.
It can be a real challenge to find items you can create that are profitable to sell. If you want to make a living online try creating a range of items.
You will want to research the market by having a good look at what is selling at the moment and what the range of prices are for the products you like. Have a really good study of the sections where people are selling their own handmade pieces.
If you like card toppers have a good look at what is being sold and the prices. You will want to create a product that is not too complicated. Simple but stylish are probably what you want to aim for.
You can either work with what you already have in materials or you may need to top up your resources. I am sure you will have no problem coming up with ideas. Remember-time is important. It needs to be cost effective and not take up a large amount of time.
The cost of the materials is usually very small if you use up bits and pieces that you already have. People have amazed themselves by trying this. It will bring out the artist in you.
You can always keep the pieces you make for your scrapbook and card making or you can set up a business selling them.
You are not confined to eBay remember. There are lots of other places you can sell your items. You could have a website where you sell them and you can supply shops if you were able to make large quantities.
Finding your own niche within papercrafting is something you will do over time. Just enjoy what you do.
If there is an opportunity to take classes in new papercrafting techniques that is a great way to spend time. You will never run out of new things to learn in papercrafting. You will never know it all.
If there are no classes in your area and you have the experience why not see if there are enough people in your area to start your own class?
You will meet lots of people with the same interests and can share ideas. You can also help other people learn papercrafting who know nothing about it.
You could have a different focus for each meeting. You could have some papercraft technique evenings and some for scrapbooking.
The important thing is to enjoy what you are doing. To make money from papercrafting- either scrapbooking or card making- look out for what people want but can not find.
This might be unique card toppers. These can be used in scrapbooking as well. Give thought to what you would like to design and for inspiration you could look in current papercraft magazines.
There has never been a better time to benefit from creative papercraft. There are lots of options for selling products and services that did not exist until recently. That will only get better.
You have theluxury of creating a masterpiece in paper today and selling to someone in another part of the world tomorrow. You have a choice of staying local or selling internationally. The choice is yours.
Remember
, if it was easy then everyone would do it but it isn’t that hard either. The possibilities are huge and they get larger every day.
My 11 year old just received a CREDIT CARD!!!
Thursday, December 4th, 2008Have you notice that you can barley get though all your junk mail and now your kids are getting junk mail. Sometimes they are receiving magazines in their names or even pre approved credit cards. How can this be when they dont even have jobs?
Well, mom or dad you may be contributing to this madness. How many times this year have you given out your childs social security number? Many doctors offices are asking for your childs social security number now and if you are like most parents you give it out and not even think twice about it. Does your child have a credit union or bank account in their name? Are your children, (with your permission) giving their contact information on kids sites on the net?
These are all places that sometimes sell or share (as they like to state) information with their partner companies. This is only one way that some of these companies get your childs information. Another way is if your child has a bank account. Some companies use the databases of major credit reporting companies like Trans Union, Equifax, Experian or Innovis. After obtaining data then your childs information goes into the databases with everyone else and guess what the company does not have a clue that this person is a minor.
Educate your child about the importance of their social security number and how they have a right to keep it private. Also, take note of these tips to minimize the credit madness:
Most doctors, dentists and other medical professional offices like to have social security numbers for record keeping purposes. If you are asked for your childs social security number find out why they need it, if you do not think that it is a viable reason, you can refuse to give it. Your child is not responsible for paying the bill and they probably already have your social security number because you are the one insured.
If your child insists on getting the latest free download (even if it is a kids site) give your contact information.
Call The Opt-Out Department at 1-888-567-8688.You can have your family excluded
for 2 years or permanently from all the pre approved credit offers that use the major credit reporting databases .
Above all, be as protective about your childs personal information as you are with your child. Just like we teach our children to be cautious toward strangers
, we need to teach them to guard their personal information equally as well.
